THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL

Picture
"But earnestly desire and strive for the greater gifts [if acquiring them is going to be your goal].

And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one of the choicest graces and the highest of them all: unselfish love]." 1 Corinthians 12:31

"Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away." 1 Corinthians 13:8

Love never fails, never fades away, nor ends.

"
And now there remain: faith [abiding trust in God and His promises], hope [confident expectation of eternal salvation], love [unselfish love for others growing out of God’s love for me], these three [the choicest graces]; but the greatest of these is love."
1 Corinthians 13:13

'THE CHOICEST GRACES':

1. Faith

2. Hope

3. Love

'The greatest of these is love.'

1 Corinthians 12

The Use of Spiritual Gifts

1 "Now about the spiritual gifts [the special endowments given by the Holy Spirit], brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed.

2 You know that when you were pagans, you were led off after speechless idols; however you were led off [whether by impulse or habit].

3 Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the [power and influence of the] Spirit of God can say, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is [my] Lord,” except by [the power and influence of] the Holy Spirit.

4 Now there are [distinctive] varieties of spiritual gifts [special abilities given by the grace and extraordinary power of the Holy Spirit operating in believers], but it is the same Spirit [who grants them and empowers believers].

5 And there are [distinctive] varieties of ministries and service, but it is the same Lord [who is served].

6 And there are [distinctive] ways of working [to accomplish things], but it is the same God who produces all things in all believers [inspiring, energizing, and empowering them].

7 But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit [the spiritual illumination and the enabling of the Holy Spirit] for the common good.

8 To one is given through the [Holy] Spirit [the power to speak] the message of wisdom, and to another [the power to express] the word of knowledge and understanding according to the same Spirit;

9 to another [wonder-working] faith [is given] by the same [Holy] Spirit, and to another the [extraordinary] gifts of healings by the one Spirit;

10 and to another the working of miracles, and to another prophecy [foretelling the future, speaking a new message from God to the people], and to another discernment of spirits [the ability to distinguish sound, godly doctrine from the deceptive doctrine of man-made religions and cults], to another various kinds of [unknown] tongues, and to another interpretation of tongues.

11 All these things [the gifts, the achievements, the abilities, the empowering] are brought about by one and the same [Holy] Spirit, distributing to each one individually just as He chooses.

12 For just as the body is one and yet has many parts, and all the parts, though many, form [only] one body, so it is with Christ.

13 For by one [Holy] Spirit we were all baptized into one body, [spiritually transformed—united together] whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life].

14 For the [human] body does not consist of one part, but of many [limbs and organs].

15 If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” is it not on the contrary still a part of the body?

16 If the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” is it not on the contrary still a part of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole [body] were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?

18 But now [as things really are], God has placed and arranged the parts in the body, each one of them, just as He willed and saw fit [with the best balance of function].

19 If they all were a single organ, where would [the rest of] the body be?

20 But now [as things really are] there are many parts [different limbs and organs], but a single body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”

22 But quite the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are [absolutely] necessary;

23 and as for those parts of the body which we consider less honorable, these we treat with greater honor; and our less presentable parts are treated with greater modesty,

24 while our more presentable parts do not require it. But God has combined the [whole] body, giving greater honor to that part which lacks it,

25 so that there would be no division or discord in the body [that is, lack of adaptation of the parts to each other], but that the parts may have the same concern for one another.

26 And if one member suffers, all the parts share the suffering; if one member is honored, all rejoice with it.

27 Now you [collectively] are Christ’s body, and individually [you are] members of it [each with his own special purpose and function].

28 So God has appointed and placed in the church [for His own use]: first apostles [chosen by Christ], second prophets [those who foretell the future, those who speak a new message from God to the people], third teachers, then those who work miracles, then those with the gifts of healings, the helpers, the administrators, and speakers in various kinds of [unknown] tongues.

29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?

30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?

31 But earnestly desire and strive for the greater gifts [if acquiring them is going to be your goal].

And yet I will show you a still more excellent way [one of the choicest graces and the highest of them all: unselfish love]."

Or, as the King James version tells us at 1 Corinthians 12:31, "
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way," which is followed immediately in 1 Corinthians 13, describing the 'excellence of love.'

Unselfish love is a gift from God, God's choicest grace (favor) for man, and one for which we should earnestly desire and strive.

Hallelujah. Praise God. Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

MAN'S SIXTH SENSE

MAN'S SIXTH SENSE

THE MIND, THOUGHTS, AND FEELINGS?

Picture
"Do you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone to do his will, you are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either [slaves] of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness (right standing with God)?" Romans 6:16

Heavenly Father, let your words flow through me, and not my own. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Does man have a sixth sense?  Are our thoughts, in other words, our mind and feelings, like a sixth sense? At the very least, our thoughts and feelings control our responses to the five senses: Sight, Hearing, Speech, Touch, Taste.

First, let's look at the five senses, and God.

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them." Ephesians 2:10

We are created in Jesus Christ, to perform good works, which God, before time began, ordained, or established or ordered by appointment, decree, or law.

These are not JUST words. We know God's Word is powerful: "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

God's Word is a 'discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.'

THE FIVE SENSES: Sight, Hearing, Speech, Touch, Taste

SIGHT AND HEARING

"But blessed [spiritually aware, and favored by God] are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear." Matthew 13:16

Our eyes and ears are blessed by God because we see His blessings in our lives every day, and hear and understand His Word: The Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, who died, was resurrected, and now sits at God, the Father's, right hand.

SIGHT

Matthew 6

22 “The eye is the lamp of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts].

23 But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind], your whole body will be full of darkness . . ."

If our spiritual eye is focused on God, then our bodies will be full of light, and will shine with God's Word for all to see.

If our spiritual eye is focused on darkness, our bodies will be full of darkness!

HEARING

"So be careful how you listen; for whoever has [a teachable heart], to him more [understanding] will be given; and whoever does not have [a longing for truth], even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.” Luke 8:18

Listen to God's Word, hear it with your ears, understand it with your hearts and minds. Do not be like Cain, who knew God's Word, but was a poser, a pretender. He pretended to be righteous, thinking he could climb into the kingdom of Heaven through a window to receive God's blessings, instead of coming through the door, as instructed.

See my blog titled, Cain and Abel.

SPEECH (words)

So, we know God's Word is alive, and we also know that our very own words are alive:

"Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, Sweet and delightful to the soul and healing to the body." Proverbs 16:24

If pleasant words cause healing, then harsh words are certainly the opposite, and  cause sickness and death.

Also, Matthew 12:37, "For by your words [reflecting your spiritual condition] you will be justified and acquitted of the guilt of sin; and by your words [rejecting Me] you will be condemned and sentenced."

By your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

Jesus tells us that if we have the faith of a mustard seed, we can tell [speak to] a mountain to move, and it will move:

"And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say [speak] unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you." Matthew 17:20

These are powerful words. Our words are alive, and is it no wonder? "Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?"

We are gods who can create by speaking, thinking about, and acting upon God's Word, which, in turn, will cause our own words, thoughts and actions to create for the greater good of all mankind.

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue [speech]: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21

Similar to what Jesus said: live by the sword, die by the sword, except, more appropriately, sting men with your tongue, and you will be stung in the same way, with men's tongues, or words. Or, Do unto others as you would have done unto you.

TOUCH

2 Corinthians 2:17

“'So come out from among unbelievers and be separate,” says the Lord,

'And do not touch what is unclean;

'And I will graciously receive you and welcome you [with favor],'"

Come out. Repent, turn away from sin. Do not touch what is unclean. Turn to Jesus Christ. Stay away from unrighteousness: Fornication, lying, adultery, murder, stealing, lust of the flesh, all forms of wickedness and abominations to God.

"And he spake unto the congregation, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest you be consumed in all their sins." Numbers 16:27

Touch nothing of the wicked, unless you be consumed in their sins.

TASTE

"O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good;

How blessed [fortunate, prosperous, and favored by God] is the man who takes refuge in Him." Psalm 34:8

Taste the power of God's Word, and take refuge in Him, and be blessed.

MAN'S SIXTH SENSE - THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS?

Our thoughts, words and actions are the most powerful tools God gave us, in Jesus Christ, because with them, we create the world around us! See some interesting videos about God and Physics here.

I know people will say, but thoughts and feelings are not really a 'sense,' are they, not like seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and speaking?

Are not the original five senses all operations of our minds? We touch something, and our minds, feelings, thoughts, tell us what it is and how to react to it. Same with the other senses. So, in essence, our thoughts and feelings are the greatest operation of our minds. You could say, our feelings or thoughts are a 'sense' [sixth sense] of who we are, inside our hearts.

Thus, thought is the greatest operation of our minds of all the five senses. We think all day long, day and night, even in our dreams. The kinds of thoughts we have are based on what we have stored in our hearts, and determine how we react to the other five senses: taste, touch, sight, hearing, and speech.

"Do you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone to do his will, you are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either [slaves] of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness (right standing with God)?" Romans 6:16

If we continually offer ourselves in thoughts, words, and actions, to sin, death is waiting.

Therefore, if we offer ourselves to God, and righteousness, everlasting life is waiting.

"[We are] casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." 2 Corinthians 10:5

"bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ." Do not even think sinful things. Jesus said, that just by looking at another woman, a man has already lusted for her in his heart. God knows our hearts.

If you are feeling persecuted, deeply saddened, or guilty, and you have no idea why, or perhaps you have some idea, pray out loud to God for forgiveness, repent of [turn away from] any and all sin, and God will provide mercy and relief.

"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8

Think only on honest, just, pure, lovely things, and things of good report, and only on things that have virtue and praise. Anything else is from Satan, the ruler of this world, and will lead to death. Jesus said, Do not love this world. If you love this world, then the love of the Father is not in you.
Love people. Hate evil, which is sin and death.

“And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

Keep your hearts and minds [thoughts and feelings] on God, and receive the peace the passes all understanding through the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!

Choose God by choosing His only begotten son, Jesus Christ.

Amen.

THE POWER OF GOD'S LOVE

12/15/2021

Picture

"He that loves not knows not God;
for God is love." 1 John 4:8

GOD IS LOVE! And he has given us the spirit of love!

"For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV)

How many people really understand 'love,' though? I mean, most of us probably, in our earthly understanding of love, at least love our mothers and fathers, and our children and husband, but what is love to God?

Let's first look at John 13:34, wherein Jesus said, "I am giving you a new commandment, that you [a]love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another."

Footnotes: biblegateway.com
(a) John 13:34 "The key to understanding this and other statements about love is to know that this love (the Greek word agape) is not so much a matter of emotion as it is of doing things for the benefit of another person, that is, having an unselfish concern for another and a willingness to seek the best for another."

'Agape' love is not a matter of emotion, the mind, or earthly love, love of the world, but an unselfish love for other human beings, or as Jesus also said, Love others as if they were yourself. Matthew 22:39

This is a difficult concept for a lot of people, because this is not what we have been taught. Personally, I have spent an entire lifetime withdrawing from people, and putting up walls, and judging by outward appearance. I told my neighbor just a few years ago that I do not like people. I heard someone else say recently that they like animals more than they like people.

In a sermon at church recently, the speaker said, It is easier to preach God's Word than it is to practice what you preach. Man, that is a fact, and one that Jesus stressed repeatedly, Woe to you Pharisees, Sadducees and scribes ... "Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity." Matthew 23:28

Clearly, they were not practicing what they preached. Are we? I know I often do not.

Woe to us!

This is why Jesus reminds us to remove the beam from our eye before we judge our brother for the splinter in his eye.

Every man sins, and there is only one judge for man, God, the Father. Do not judge, lest you be judged. Woe to us! We will appear before the judgment seat of Christ:

James 2

5 "Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?"

In John 13:34 above Jesus says, ". . . Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another."

How did Jesus love us exactly? First of all, He knew God the Father, and the Power of His Word and His Love, so He knew that if He loved with an unselfish, agape love, that God would dwell in him, and his love would be perfected in him, he would experience God's Power of Love.

" . . . If we love one another, God dwells in us, and his love is perfected in us." 1 John 4:12

God's love cannot be perfected in us unless and until we have an 'agape' love for all of mankind, especially unbelievers.

Jesus said, "For if you love them which love you, what reward have you? do not even the publicans (sinners) the same?" Matthew 5:46

Jesus really could not have made it more clear: do not love the world (Satan is the ruler of this world), but have an 'agape' love for all of mankind. Mankind is God's 'treasure' and 'peculiar people,' 'a royal priesthood,' 'one blood all nations,' and whom, for the very same reasons, is Satan's greatest enemy.

"Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." 1 John 2:15  Satan is the ruler of this world. Do not love this world. Satan is not the ruler of man, however. We are the ruler of him. We can crush Satan's head, but he can only bruise our heel.

Yet, many of us, me included, struggle with this 'agape' love, because we have a lifetime of conditioning by Satan: influence of family and friends, television and movies, fake news, social(ism) media, and following the 'bad voice' in our heads, but often seldom following God, or the 'good voice.'

Jesus demonstrated great compassion and 'agape' love, God's love, when he healed leprosy and all manner of weak flesh, and heaped coals of shame on the elders and high priests (Pharisees, Sadducees, scribes) instead.

As Apostle Paul describes in 1 Corinthians 13 below, we may have every gift from God, our Heavenly Father, but if we do not have God's Power of Love, this 'agape' love for all of mankind, we are nothing:

1 Corinthians 13

1 "If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not [a]love [for others growing out of God’s love for me], then I have become only a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal [just an annoying distraction].

2 And if I have the gift of prophecy [and speak a new message from God to the people], and understand all mysteries, and [possess] all knowledge; and if I have all [sufficient] faith so that I can remove mountains, but do not have love [reaching out to others], I am nothing.

3 If I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body [b]to be burned, but do not have love, it does me no good at all."

Footnotes: biblegateway.com Amplified Bible
(a) 1 Corinthians 13:1 I.e. a profound thoughtfulness and unselfish concern for other believers regardless of their circumstances or station in life.

(b) 1 Corinthians 13:3 Early mss read so that I may boast, i.e. as a martyr.

Finally, Jesus said in Philippians 2:15, "That you may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world;"

Our Prayer Today:

Heavenly Father, thank you for our many blessings, and thank you for hearing our prayer today.

We come to you in thanksgiving and prayer, and ask for and receive Your promise of healing and restoration. Oh, Father, help us remember who we are, that we are a 'spark' from you, the Father. Re-ignite our spark, and let your Will be done in our lives, and not our own.

Help us to shed our old way of thinking, and teachings, our old habits of the flesh, and rain down Your Spirit into our souls, Father, and Your love, an 'agape' love, an unselfish love for others, all of mankind, especially unbelievers, and those sick and hurting, who need You the most. Teach us to love as Jesus did, so that we may be blameless and harmless, and shine as lights in this world, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation.

For these things we pray, in Jesus' name. Amen.

OUR WORDS ARE ALIVE

MASARU EMOTO'S
IMPOSSIBLE RICE EXPERIMENT

". . . With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26

NOTE: PLEASE WATCH THE ABOVE VIDEO BEFORE CONTINUING.

Also, try it at home with your children. It really works!  Our Words are Alive!

Thank you!

Gods' Holy Word (the Bible): They are not JUST words! God's Word is a system, and it is active and alive, and oh so powerful and marvelous!

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
Hebrews 4:12

". . . piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit . . . a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." God's System! Hallelujah! Praise God!

The Bible also tells us that we will be judged for every word spoken!

"But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment." Matthew 12:36

And, that, We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ, and give account of ourselves to God.

Romans 14

10 But why do you judge your brother? or why do you set at nought your brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way."

As the above video (experiment) shows, and as the Bible tell us, in God's system, words have consequences, good and bad:

Good: "Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweet and delightful to the soul and healing to the body." Proverbs 16:24

Bad: "For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." Matthew 12:37

That may not sound like a party we would want to attend, to be condemned for our words, but I assure you, it is a party where the invitation is written in the New Covenant, the Blood Sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Covenant).

Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus! For through this Covenant, because of the love of our Heavenly Father, we are guaranteed eternal salvation, everlasting life.

We are not, however guaranteed rewards. Will your
words and deeds stand the 'test' of fire, or will you be 'barely' saved from the fire?

1 Corinthians 3

14 "If any person’s work which he has built [on this foundation, that is, any outcome of his effort] remains [and survives this test], he will receive a reward.

15 But if any person’s work is burned up [by the test], he will suffer the loss [of his reward]; yet he himself will be saved, but only as [one who has barely escaped] through fire."

Do not lose your rewards. Live your life now as if ALL of your sins, your words and your deeds, are laid bare, and you are called to give account for them to the Father, the Living God. It is a terrible thing to face punishment from the Living God. Hebrews 10:31  I will be appalled at my behavior. Oh, Lord Jesus, if only I knew then what I know now. Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus, for not forsaking me!

Romans 6 AMP

12 "Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts and passions.

13 Do not go on offering members of your body to sin as instruments of wickedness. But offer yourselves to God [in a decisive act] as those alive [raised] from the dead [to a new life], and your members [all of your abilities—sanctified, set apart] as instruments of righteousness [yielded] to God.

14 For sin will no longer be a master over you, since you are not under Law [as slaves], but under [unmerited] grace [as recipients of God’s favor and mercy].

15 What then [are we to conclude]? Shall we sin because we are not under Law, but under [God’s] grace? Certainly not!

16 Do you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone to do his will, you are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either [slaves] of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness (right standing with God)?

17 But thank God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient with all your heart to the standard of teaching in which you were instructed and to which you were committed.

18 And having been set free from sin, you have become the slaves of righteousness [of conformity to God’s will and purpose].

19 I am speaking in [familiar] human terms because of your natural limitations [your spiritual immaturity]. For just as you presented your bodily members as slaves to impurity and to [moral] lawlessness, leading to further lawlessness, so now offer your members [your abilities, your talents] as slaves to righteousness, leading to sanctification [that is, being set apart for God’s purpose].

20 When you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness [you had no desire to conform to God’s will].

21 So what benefit did you get at that time from the things of which you are now ashamed? [None!] For the outcome of those things is death!

22 But now since you have been set free from sin and have become [willing] slaves to God, you have your benefit, resulting in sanctification [being made holy and set apart for God’s purpose], and the outcome [of this] is eternal life.

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God [that is, His remarkable, overwhelming gift of grace to believers] is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Our Prayer Today:

Heavenly Father, fill us with Your Spirit, Your Words, and Your Will. "Let each one of us [make it a practice to] please his neighbor for his good, to build him up spiritually." Romans 15:2  . . . Through Your Word, and our words and deeds.

Hear our prayers, Heavenly Father, so that we that exercise truth come to the Light, that our deeds [words, actions] may be made manifest, and known to be of God. John 3:21

Hallelujah to the Lamb of God! Praise God!

In Jesus' name. Amen.

LIGHT OF THE WORLD

Picture

“The eye is the lamp [light] of the body; so if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts (laws, commands)]." Matthew 6:22

If we think about the eyes literally, they are the primary way light enters our body (clearly, it also enters through our skin since it is the body's largest organ). But, light enters the pupil, and the iris controls how much light enters. Then, it passes through a lens, which works with the cornea to focus the images we are seeing. The light then passes through the retina, and literally kickstarts an electrical process that sends signals to our brain to show us the images.

I found that completely fascinating and amazing, a miracle of creation, something only God could do. Praise God! Like the rising of the sun in the east, and setting in the west. Hallelujah!

Now, the good news of salvation is everlasting life through Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." Romans 10:9

If we believe this, even though our flesh is weak, we have been set apart as holy for God:

"And in accordance with this will [of God] we [who believe in the message of salvation] have been sanctified [that is, set apart as holy for God and His purposes] through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." Hebrews 10:10

Likewise, if we think about it spiritually, as in Matthew 6:22 (above), if our eye is clear '[spiritually perceptive],' or focused on God, what is right, good and pure, we will never again be in darkness, regardless of the infirmities of the flesh, because Jesus tells us, we are the light of the world. Matthew 5:14

So, with our physical eyes, we SEE the lights of the world,

but with our spiritual eye, we ARE the light of the world,

and will never again be in darkness.

Or, as Apostle Paul told, in the story of 'A Thorn in the Flesh':

2 Corinthians 12

A Thorn in the Flesh

7 "Because of the surpassing greatness and extraordinary nature of the revelations [which I received from God], for this reason, to keep me from thinking of myself as important, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan, to torment and harass me—to keep me from exalting myself!

8 Concerning this I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might leave me;

9 but He has said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you [My lovingkindness and My mercy are more than enough—always available—regardless of the situation]; for [My] power is being perfected [and is completed and shows itself most effectively] in [your] weakness.' Therefore, I will all the more gladly boast in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ [may completely enfold me and] may dwell in me.

10 So I am well pleased with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, and with difficulties, for the sake of Christ; for when I am weak [in human strength], then I am strong [truly able, truly powerful, truly drawing from God’s strength]."

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify our Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Hallelujah! Amen!

A name is just a name? Nope, not so fast! Did you know that our heavenly Father, and His only begotten son, Jesus Christ, have many names in the Bible? Jesus alone is referred to using at least 343 different titles or names (see below).

God has many facets, many layers. He is the God of all mankind. He is all things to all people, who believe in Him.

"
Jesus said to him, “[You say to Me,] ‘If You can?' All things are possible for the one who believes and trusts [in Me]!” Mark 9:23

(Following is an excerpt from godisreal.today.

The Ultimate Name of God: I AM

When Moses encountered God at the burning bush, he asked what His name was. God replied:

“I AM that I AM… You must say this to the Israelites, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”Exodus 3:14

Jesus Christ applied the name of God on Himself

Jesus Christ shocked the religious leaders of Israel, when He made a statement that was unheard of since the beginning of time. Jesus Christ declared that He Himself is God, when He said:

“Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.” John 8:58

In the book of Revelation Jesus reveals Himself to the apostle John with a name that is very similar to ‘I AM':

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” Revelation 1:7-9

The Names of God in the Old Testament

Remember that God is real and these names reveal who He wants to be for you and your beloved ones. He didn’t only exist thousands of years ago, when these names were first revealed. He is just as present today, to show you who He is. He loves you with all His heart.

These names of God reveal who God wants to be for you.

Yahweh
The self-existent One. He has always existed and will always exist. You can always rely on Him because He is your eternal source of strength.

Yahweh-Tsidkenu
The Lord our righteousness. When we believe in Jesus Christ, He becomes our righteousness. He forgives our sins and washes us with His blood.

End of quote from

God is all things to all men, who believe in His only begotten son, Jesus Christ:

John 1 AMP (from biblegateway.com with footnotes):

The Deity of Jesus Christ

1 "In the beginning [before all time] was the Word ([a]Christ), and the Word was with God, and [b]the Word was God Himself.

2 He was [continually existing] in the beginning [co-eternally] with God.

3 All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him not even one thing was made that has come into being.

4 In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men.

5 The Light shines on in the [c]darkness, and the darkness did not understand it or overpower it or appropriate it or absorb it [and is unreceptive to it].

The Witness of John the Baptist

6 There came a man commissioned and sent from God, whose name was [d]John.

7 This man came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe [in Christ, the Light] through him.

8 John was not the Light, but came to testify about the Light.

9 There it was—the true Light [the genuine, perfect, steadfast Light] which, coming into the world, enlightens everyone.

10 He (Christ) was in the world, and though the world was made through Him, the world did not recognize Him.

11 He came to that which was His own [that which belonged to Him—His world, His creation, His possession], and those who were His own [people—the Jewish nation] did not receive and welcome Him.

12 But to as many as did receive and welcome Him, He gave the right [the authority, the privilege] to become children of God, that is, to those who believe in (adhere to, trust in, and rely on) His name—

13 who were born, not of blood [natural conception], nor of the will of the flesh [physical impulse], nor of the will of man [that of a natural father], but of God [that is, a divine and supernatural birth—they are born of God—spiritually transformed, renewed, sanctified]."

Footnotes:

  1. John 1:1 In John the Apostle’s vision (Rev 19), he sees Christ returning as Warrior-Messiah-King, and “...His name is called The Word of God...and LORD OF LORDS.” (Rev 19:13, 16).
  2. John 1:1 In this phrase, “God” appears first in the Greek word order, emphasizing the fact that “the Word” (Christ) was God—so “God Himself.”
  3. John 1:5 I.e. the world immersed in sin: all that stands in opposition to God and biblical truth.
  4. John 1:6 The births of both John the Baptist and Jesus were foretold by the angel, Gabriel (Luke 1:5-80). This passage is about John the Baptist, the son of Zacharias the priest and his wife, Elizabeth. Elizabeth was related to Mary the mother of Jesus (Luke 1:36). John the Baptist is considered to be the last of the OT prophets, and is not to be confused with John the Apostle who wrote this Gospel, three brief letters (1 John, 2 John, 3 John) and Revelation.

God is great all the time. Hallelujah to the Lamb of God. Praise God.

THE GREATNESS OF GOD

THE GREATNESS OF GOD AUDIO BLOG

Why is GOD great? What makes Him great to believers? For a lot of believers, they know God is great because it is proven in their lives every day.

We could say, synonymously, God is Love, because through Love, all things are great!

There is common agreement among philosophers, scholars and scientists that Love is the most powerful emotion there is. Love makes the world go round, and, CHRISTians know that through God, Love is the key to our happiness, because it creates positivity where there was negativity, turns disagreement into accord, and hostility into reconciliation.

There are many stories in the Bible that prove God's greatness:
  • The Creation Story, Genesis 1;
  • Noah's Ark, Genesis 7;
  • God's liberation of the Israelites from Egypt, Exodus 14;
  • Sodom and Gomorrah: God asked His friend, Abraham, what he thought before destroying Sodom and Gomorrah Genesis 19:1-29. God agreed with Abraham that if he could find 10 righteous people in the cities, among men, women and children, then he would not destroy them. Of course, we know that God could not find 10 righteous people, so the cities were destroyed; and,
  • Jonah and the whale: Jonah was angry with God because he knew that God was great and merciful, and that if the people of Nineveh repented, God would forgive them, and Jonah did not want that. But God told him, there are many people in Nineveh that do not know their right hand from their left hand, and should He not spare them? And, of course, he did spare Nineveh.

There are many other stories and instances of God's greatness in the Bible, but perhaps the greatest of all is the story of God's only begotten son, Jesus Christ, and undoubtedly, the single-most reason people say, God is Great!

John 3:16-21

16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18 He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20 For every one that does evil hates the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21 But he that does truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."

1 Chronicles 29:11 "Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all."

And, finally, Psalm 46:1-11

1 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

6 The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

7 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

9 He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah."

Our Prayer Today:

Father, we love the message You gave that first Christmas morning, when a heavenly choir sang, “Glory to God In the Highest.. and peace on earth to men.” How we rejoice in recalling the reason that You gave Your only begotten Son, to be born perfect, living with us sinners, so that by Your grace, His blood sacrifice would cleanse our sins forever.

We pray that this glorious message of grace shines deep into the hearts of men, so that Jesus Christ is lifted up in the hearts of many. Jesus promised, “And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” John 12:32

We pray that many are drawn into Your arms of grace, forgiveness and mercy, and that we never fail to glorify You and Your message of peace on earth and goodwill towards men, for You alone are worthy of all honor, praise, glory and thanksgiving.

Romans 12:1-21

Give Your Lives to God

1 "So I beg you, brothers and sisters, because of the great mercy God has shown us, offer your lives as a living sacrifice to him—an offering that is only for God and pleasing to him. Considering what he has done, it is only right that you should worship him in this way.

2 Don’t change yourselves to be like the people of this world, but let God change you inside with a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to understand and accept what God wants for you. You will be able to know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.

3 God has given me a special gift, and that is why I have something to say to each one of you. Don’t think that you are better than you really are. You must see yourself just as you are. Decide what you are by the faith God has given each of us.

4 Each one of us has one body, and that body has many parts. These parts don’t all do the same thing.

5 In the same way, we are many people, but in Christ we are all one body. We are the parts of that body, and each part belongs to all the others.

6 We all have different gifts. Each gift came because of the grace God gave us. Whoever has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in a way that fits the kind of faith they have.

7 Whoever has the gift of serving should serve. Whoever has the gift of teaching should teach.

8 Whoever has the gift of comforting others should do that. Whoever has the gift of giving to help others should give generously. Whoever has the gift of leading should work hard at it. Whoever has the gift of showing kindness to others should do it gladly.

9 Your love must be real. Hate what is evil. Do only what is good.

10 Love each other in a way that makes you feel close like brothers and sisters. And give each other more honor than you give yourself.

11 As you serve the Lord, work hard and don’t be lazy. Be excited about serving him!

12 Be happy because of the hope you have. Be patient when you have troubles. Pray all the time.

13 Share with God’s people who need help. Look for people who need help and welcome them into your homes.

14 Wish only good for those who treat you badly. Ask God to bless them, not curse them.

15 When others are happy, you should be happy with them. And when others are sad, you should be sad too.

16 Live together in peace with each other. Don’t be proud, but be willing to be friends with people who are not important to others. Don’t think of yourself as smarter than everyone else.

17 If someone does you wrong, don’t try to pay them back by hurting them. Try to do what everyone thinks is right.

18 Do the best you can to live in peace with everyone.

19 My friends, don’t try to punish anyone who does wrong to you. Wait for God to punish them with his anger. In the Scriptures the Lord says,

'I am the one who punishes;
    I will pay people back.'

20 But you should do this:

'If you have enemies who are hungry,
    give them something to eat.
If you have enemies who are thirsty,
    give them something to drink.
In doing this you will make them feel ashamed.'

21 Don’t let evil defeat you, but defeat evil by doing good."

Hallelujah! Praise God! Amen!

LUKE 8:4-18

4 "A large crowd came together. People came to Jesus from every town, and he told them this story:

5 'A farmer went out to sow seed. While he was scattering the seed, some of it fell beside the road. People walked on the seed, and the birds ate it all.

6 Other seed fell on rock. It began to grow but then died because it had no water.

7 Some other seed fell among thorny weeds. This seed grew, but later the weeds stopped the plants from growing.

8 The rest of the seed fell on good ground. This seed grew and made 100 times more grain.'

Jesus finished the story. Then he called out, 'You people who hear me, listen!'

9 Jesus’ followers asked him, 'What does this story mean?'

10 He said, 'You have been chosen to know the secret truths about God’s kingdom. But I use stories to speak to other people. I do this so that

They will look,
    but they will not see,
and they will listen,
    but they will not understand.’

Jesus Explains the Story About Seed

11 This is what the story means: The seed is God’s teaching.

12 Some people are like the seed that fell beside the path. They hear God’s teaching, but then the devil comes and causes them to stop thinking about it. This keeps them from believing it and being saved.

13 Others are like the seed that fell on rock. That is like the people who hear God’s teaching and gladly accept it. But they don’t have deep roots. They believe for a while. But when trouble comes, they turn away from God.

14 What about the seed that fell among the thorny weeds? That is like the people who hear God’s teaching, but they let the worries, riches, and pleasures of this life stop them from growing. So they never produce a crop.

15 And what about the seed that fell on the good ground? That is like the people who hear God’s teaching with a good, honest heart. They obey it and patiently produce a good crop.

Use the Understanding You Have

16 No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. Instead, they put the lamp on a lampstand so that the people who come in will have enough light to see.

17 Everything that is hidden will become clear. Every secret thing will be made known, and everyone will see it.

18 So think carefully about what you are hearing. The people who have some understanding will receive more. But those who do not have understanding will lose even what they think they have.”

Hallelujah! Praise God! Amen!

Psalm 1

1 "Great blessings belong to those
who don’t listen to evil advice,

who don’t live like sinners,
and who don’t join those who make fun of God.

2
Instead, they love the Lord’s teachings
and think about them day and night.

3 So they grow strong,
like a tree planted by a stream--

a tree that produces fruit when it should
and has leaves that never fall.

Everything they do is successful.

4 But the wicked are not like that.

They are like chaff that the wind blows away.

5 When the time for judgment comes, the wicked will be found guilty.

Sinners have no place among those who do what is right.

6 The Lord shows his people how to live,
but the wicked have lost their way."

Isaiah 3

10 "Tell the good people who do what is right that good things will happen to them. They will receive a reward for what they do.

11 But it will be very bad for wicked people, because they, too, will get what they deserve. They will get what they did to others.

12 Even children will defeat my people, and women will rule over them.

My people, your guides lead you the wrong way, and they destroy the path you should follow."

DO UNTO OTHERS . . .

Recently, God has been pulling me toward Repentance and Judgment. Which side will you be on?

Matthew 7:7-28

Be Careful About Criticizing Others

1 "Don’t judge others, and God will not judge you.

2 If you judge others, you will be judged the same way you judge them. God will treat you the same way you treat others.

3 Why do you notice the small piece of dust that is in your friend’s eye, but you don’t notice the big piece of wood that is in your own?

4 Why do you say to your friend, ‘Let me take that piece of dust out of your eye’? Look at yourself first! You still have that big piece of wood in your own eye.

5 You are a hypocrite! First, take the wood out of your own eye. Then you will see clearly to get the dust out of your friend’s eye.

6 Don’t give something that is holy to dogs. They will only turn and hurt you. And don’t throw your pearls to pigs. They will only step on them.

Ask God for What You Need

7 Continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you.

8 Yes, whoever continues to ask will receive. Whoever continues to look will find. And whoever continues to knock will have the door opened for them.

9 Do any of you have a son? If he asked for bread, would you give him a rock?

10 Or if he asked for a fish, would you give him a snake? Of course not!

11 You people are so bad, but you still know how to give good things to your children. So surely your heavenly Father will give good things to those who ask him.

A Very Important Rule

12 Do for others what you would want them to do for you. This is the meaning of the Law of Moses and the teaching of the prophets.

The Way to Heaven and the Way to Hell

13 You can enter true life only through the narrow gate. The gate to hell is very wide, and there is plenty of room on the road that leads there. Many people go that way.

14 But the gate that opens the way to true life is narrow. And the road that leads there is hard to follow. Only a few people find it.

What People Do Shows What They Are

15 Be careful of false prophets. They come to you and look gentle like sheep. But they are really dangerous like wolves.

16 You will know these people because of what they do. Good things don’t come from people who are bad, just as grapes don’t come from thorn bushes, and figs don’t come from thorny weeds.

17 In the same way, every good tree produces good fruit, and bad trees produce bad fruit.

18 A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot produce good fruit.

19 Every tree that does not produce good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.

20 You will know these false people by what they do.

21 Not everyone who calls me Lord will enter God’s kingdom. The only people who will enter are those who do what my Father in heaven wants.

22 On that last Day many will call me Lord. They will say, Lord, Lord, by the power of your name we spoke for God. And by your name we forced out demons and did many miracles.

23 Then I will tell those people clearly, Get away from me, you people who do wrong. I never knew you.

Two Kinds of People

24 Whoever hears these teachings of mine and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock.

25 It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house. But it did not fall because it was built on rock.

26 Whoever hears these teachings of mine and does not obey them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.

27 It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house. And it fell with a loud crash.

28 When Jesus finished speaking, the people were amazed at his teaching.

29 He did not teach like their teachers of the law. He taught like someone who has authority."

Hallelujah! Praise God! Amen!

2 Timothy 3:1-5

Many People Will Stop Loving God

1 “Remember this: There are some terrible times coming in the last days.

2 People will love only themselves and money. They will be proud and boast about themselves. They will abuse others with insults. They will not obey their parents. They will be ungrateful and against all that is pleasing to God.

3 They will have no love for others and will refuse to forgive anyone. They will talk about others to hurt them and will have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good.

4 People will turn against their friends. They will do foolish things without thinking and will be so proud of themselves. Instead of loving God, they will love pleasure.

5 They will go on pretending to be devoted to God, but they will refuse to let that “devotion” change the way they live. Stay away from these people!”

Matthew 18:18  - “I can assure you that when you speak judgment here on earth, it will be God’s judgment. And when you promise forgiveness here on earth, it will be God’s forgiveness."

1 John 2:15-17

15 "Love not the world, neither the things [that are] in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16 For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever."

Hallelujah! Praise God! Amen!

"Live together in peace with each other."

Proverbs 25:21 - "Don’t let evil defeat you, but defeat evil by doing good."

ROMANS 12:14-20

14 "Wish only good for those who treat you badly.

19 My friends don’t try to punish anyone who does wrong to you. Wait for God to punish them with His anger. In the scripture it says, “I am the one who punishes. I will pay people back.

20 But you should do this: 'If you have enemies who are hungry, give them something to eat. If you have enemies who are thirsty, give them something to drink. In doing this, you will make them feel ashamed.'"

Praise Yeshua! Amen!

"If we could spread love as quickly as we spread hate and negativity, what an amazing world we would live in." WE COULD ... IF WE TRIED

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Let Love Be Your Guide

13 "I may speak in different languages, whether human or even of angels. But if I don’t have love, I am only a noisy bell or a ringing cymbal.

2 I may have the gift of prophecy, I may understand all secrets and know everything there is to know, and I may have faith so great that I can move mountains. But even with all this, if I don’t have love, I am nothing.

3 I may give away everything I have to help others, and I may even give my body as an offering to be burned. But I gain nothing by doing all this if I don’t have love.

4
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, and it is not proud.

5 Love is not rude, it is not selfish, and it cannot be made angry easily. Love does not remember wrongs done against it.

6 Love is never happy when others do wrong, but it is always happy with the truth.

7 Love never gives up on people. It never stops trusting, never loses hope, and never quits.

8 Love will never end. But all those gifts will come to an end—even the gift of prophecy, the gift of speaking in different kinds of languages, and the gift of knowledge.

9 These will all end because this knowledge and these prophecies we have are not complete.

10 But when perfection comes, the things that are not complete will end.

11 When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, and I made plans like a child. When I became a man, I stopped those childish ways.

12 It is the same with us. Now we see God as if we are looking at a reflection in a mirror. But then, in the future, we will see him right before our eyes. Now I know only a part, but at that time I will know fully, as God has known me.

13 So these three things continue: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love."

Amen!

LEARN FROM CHRIST TO BE UNSELFISH

Philippians 2:5-11 Easy-to-Read Version

5 Learn From Christ to Be Unselfish In your life together, think the way Christ Jesus thought.

6 He was like God in every way, but he did not think that his being equal with God was something to use for his own benefit.

7 Instead, he gave up everything, even his place with God. He accepted the role of a servant, appearing in human form.

During his life as a man,

8 he humbled himself by being fully obedient to God, even when that caused his death—death on a cross.

9 So God raised him up to the most important place and gave him the name that is greater than any other name.

10 God did this so that every person will bow down to honor the name of Jesus. Everyone in heaven, on earth, and under the earth will bow.

11 They will all confess, 'Jesus Christ is Lord,' and this will bring glory to God the Father."

Amen!

Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

Esther 5:1-14

1 "Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king's house, over against the king's house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house.

2 And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre.

3 Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom.

4 And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him.

5 Then the king said, Cause Haman to make haste, that he may do as Esther hath said. So the king and Haman came to the banquet that Esther had prepared.

6 And the king said unto Esther at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition? and it shall be granted thee: and what is thy request? even to the half of the kingdom it shall be performed.

7 Then answered Esther, and said, My petition and my request is;

8 If I have found favour in the sight of the king, and if it please the king to grant my petition, and to perform my request, let the king and Haman come to the banquet that I shall prepare for them, and I will do to morrow as the king hath said.

9 Then went Haman forth that day joyful and with a glad heart: but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, that he stood not up, nor moved for him, he was full of indignation against Mordecai.

10 Nevertheless Haman refrained himself: and when he came home, he sent and called for his friends; and Zeresh his wife.

11 And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things wherein the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

12 Haman said moreover, Yeah, Esther the queen did let no man come in with the king unto the banquet that she had prepared but myself; and tomorrow am I invited unto her also with the king.

13 Yet all this availeth me nothing, so long as I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king's gate.

14 Then said Zeresh, his wife and all his friends unto him, Let a gallows be made of fifty cubits high, and tomorrow speak thou unto the king that Mordecai may be hanged thereon: then go thou in merily with the king unto the banquet. And the thing pleased Haman; and he caused the gallows to be made."

Following is a commentary of Esther 5:1-14 by Matthew Henry, 1710, from
www.biblestudytools.com as follows:

Esther's application received. (Verses 1-8)

Esther 5:1-8 - Esther having had power with God, and prevailing, like Jacob, had power with men too. He that will lose his life for God, shall save it, or find it in a better life. The king encouraged her. Let us from this be encouraged to pray always to our God, and not to faint. Esther came to a proud, imperious man; but we come to the God of love and grace. She was not called, but we are; the Spirit says, Come, and the Bride says, Come. She had a law against her, we have a promise, many a promise, in favor of us; Ask, and it shall be given you. She had no friend to go with her, or to plead for her; on the contrary, he that was then the king's favorite, was her enemy; but we have an Advocate with the Father, in whom he is well pleased. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace. God put it into Esther's heart to delay her petition a day longer; she knew not, but God did, what was to happen in that very night.

Haman prepares to hang Mordecai. (Verses 9-14)

Esther 5: 9-14 - This account of Haman is a comment upon Proverbs 21:24. Self-admirers and self-flatterers are really self-deceivers. Haman, the higher he is lifted up, the more impatient he is of contempt, and the more enraged at it. The affront from Mordecai spoiled all. A slight affront, which a humble man would scarcely notice, will torment a proud man, even to madness, and will mar all his comforts. Those disposed to be uneasy, will never want something to be uneasy at. Such are proud men; though they have much to their mind, if they have not all to their mind, it is as nothing to them. Many call the proud happy, who display pomp and make a show; but this is a mistaken thought. Many poor cottagers feel far less uneasiness than the rich, with all their fancied advantages around them. The man who knows not Christ, is poor though he be rich, because he is utterly destitute of that which alone is true riches.
